As an Environmental Engineer, you will be tasked with identifying solutions and developing contingency plans for various environmental challenges related to the manufacturing process. You will play a crucial role in managing and executing the company's Environmental Management System.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with environmental laws, permits, corporate standards, and legal agreements.
  • Support the business unit in adhering to Air, Water, and Waste regulations, including Tank Management, Emergency Plans, and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Oversee environmental compliance and implement corrective measures for any issues identified at the facility.
  • Conduct regular audits of environmental operations to ensure adherence to regulations and identify potential risks.
  • Assist facility personnel in finding efficient solutions to environmental challenges.
  • Prepare and submit necessary reports to regulatory bodies.
  • Engage with Federal, State, and Local agencies regarding permits, compliance, and inspections.
  • Lead or participate in interdisciplinary teams focused on obtaining environmental permits.
  • Manage the safety program to maintain a secure working environment within the facility.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the steel manufacturing process.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering, or a minimum of 10 years of experience in Air, Water, and Waste Regulations and/or Environmental Management.
  • Technical expertise in Environmental Management and/or Engineering.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in Environmental Management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of experience in environmental management within an industrial context or relevant co-op or internship experience.
  • Experience in the Manufacturing Industry.
  • Training in RCRA/DOT regulations.
  • Certifications such as OSHA's HAZWOPER, CHMM, and/or PMP are advantageous.
  • Certification as a Landfill Operator in the State of Indiana is a plus.
