ROLE SUMMARY:

The Early Learning Assistant Teacher will support the planning, development, and execution of educational activities within the classroom. This position necessitates direct engagement with children and may require early morning duties. Flexible availability, Monday through Friday, is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in crafting and delivering daily lesson plans.
  • Engage actively with children during classroom activities.
  • Facilitate communication with parents on a daily basis.
  • Prepare materials for educational activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and schedules.
  • Ensure the safety and supervision of children at all times.
  • Support the Site Supervisor during parent-teacher conferences as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with the teaching team.

Perform any additional tasks required for the efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids.

COMPENSATION:

$18.28 per hour; Non-Exempt, Part-Time (up to 25 hours per week).

QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred qualifications include an Associate's degree or CDA; three to six months of relevant childcare experience; or a comparable combination of education and experience. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds and possess a genuine interest in working with infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children.

CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Blood Borne Pathogen training.
  • CPR Certification within the first 60 days of employment.
  • First Aid Certification within the first 60 days of employment.
  • State of Michigan criminal background clearance.
  • Fingerprinting.
  • DHS clearance.
  • Negative T.B. skin test.
  • Documentation of a physical examination.
