Position Overview: Soliant Education is seeking a dedicated Autism Support Specialist to join our team in the Yorktown area. This full-time role is centered around providing support in a self-contained classroom for students in grades 2-5 diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about fostering an inclusive and effective educational environment for students with unique learning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute individualized education programs (IEPs) that cater to the specific requirements of each student.
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom to ensure holistic support for all students.
- Establish and maintain a positive, structured, and engaging classroom atmosphere.
- Evaluate and track student progress, adjusting instructional methods as necessary to meet educational objectives.
- Engage with parents, school personnel, and other professionals to enhance student support and development.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the formulation of educational and behavioral strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related discipline.
- Valid Virginia Teaching Certification with a specialization in Special Education.
- Experience with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities, with a strong capacity to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and families.
