Job Summary

To serve as a clinical instructor for the Paramedicine degree program at Oklahoma State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for meeting with students at clinical sites and providing continuous on-site instruction for EMT and paramedic students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instruction and Guidance: Participate in the instruction of EMT and Paramedic lab courses, ensuring students receive comprehensive training and guidance.
  • Program Direction: Function under the direction of the Paramedicine Program Director, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Lab Preparation and Maintenance: Prepare lab for classes, help dismantle and clean up after lab activities, and ensure a safe and organized learning environment.
  • Equipment and Hazardous Materials: Demonstrate the safe and proper use of lab equipment and hazardous or biohazardous materials, prioritizing student safety and well-being.
  • Leadership and Role Modeling: Provide leadership and positive role modeling for students, promoting a culture of professionalism and excellence.
  • Professional Development: Attend annual program meetings and participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with industry best practices.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the Paramedicine program.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of one year field experience with an EMS agency at license level to be taught.
  • Certifications: Current National Registry of EMT certification as an EMT or Paramedic, current Oklahoma EMT or Paramedic license, AHA BLS Provider certification, and AHA ACLS Provider certification (paramedic only).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Associate's degree.
  • Certifications: AHA BLS Instructor, AHA ACLS Instructor, AHA PALS/PEPP Instructor, and PHTLS Provider.
Working Conditions
  • Environment: Hospital and assisted living facility environment.
  • Schedule: Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends in an often times busy and noisy environment to meet program goals and student educational/learning needs.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting and Mobility: Instructor will perform duties inside structures or in hospital settings. Must be able to perform physical activities such as lifting up to 75 lbs. unassisted, bending, standing, climbing or walking.
