About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Career Guidance Specialist to join our team at Bay Area Community Resources. In this dynamic role, you will play a vital part in empowering young adults to achieve their educational and career goals.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective career pathways projects, including career panels, college trips, and career advisory boards, to help participants gain valuable insights into in-demand industries.
  • Collaborate with workshop staff to create engaging employment readiness workshops and assist participants in crafting personalized educational and career plans.
  • Serve as a liaison between post-secondary education and vocational training resources in Contra Costa County, ensuring seamless connections for our participants.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local schools, community organizations, and employers to provide opportunities for our participants to explore various career options.
  • Create curriculum materials that highlight hidden career sectors and facilitate workshops to educate participants about these emerging fields.
  • Provide ongoing support to participants through regular check-ins, progress monitoring, and referrals to relevant services and programs.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 2+ years' experience working with multi-barrier youth and young adults, preferably in the workforce development field.
  • Strong knowledge of college counseling and access support principles, as well as experience with workshop facilitation and lesson planning.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, while maintaining a high level of professionalism and discretion when working with sensitive information.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders, including participants, employers, and community partners.
  • A valid California driver's license and a registered, insured vehicle for work purposes, with mileage reimbursement provided.

  • Full-time schedule, 40 hours/week, with some flexibility for evenings and weekends as needed.
