The **Imaging Technician** will play a vital role in supporting the preclinical imaging requirements of researchers and the PCI core at Fred Hutch. This position involves operating various preclinical imaging equipment (including Ultrasound, MRI, microCT, IVIS, and Lago imaging systems) and providing rodent imaging services to investigators. The technician will be responsible for the operation, routine maintenance, and calibration of specialized imaging equipment.

**Responsibilities**

PRIMARY/ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Research Support:
  • Conduct imaging studies across various PCI modalities, including image acquisition and data compilation for investigators.
  • Proficiency in related procedures such as animal preparation, anesthesia, monitoring, and routine injections is required.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the transportation of animals for imaging-related research.
  • Opportunity to acquire additional technical skills as new projects arise.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office products, mobile devices, and scheduling databases to support these initiatives.
Equipment Oversight:
  • Manage and perform maintenance on imaging equipment utilized in the preclinical imaging core, including imaging stereotaxic systems, chillers, and microscopes.
  • Assist in supply management and preparation.
Training and Education:
  • Familiarize with team SOPs, training materials, and guidelines for investigator use.
Regulatory and Compliance:
  • Ensure all work complies with IACUC approved protocols.
Other duties as assigned.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Level of autonomy:
    • Work under the direct supervision of the PCI Core Manager, with regular check-ins with senior core specialists and management.
    • This position does not involve supervising others.
    • Moderate oversight and training will be provided by resource specialists and management.

**Qualifications**

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree in a scientific field, engineering, zoology, or a related discipline; or certification such as ALAT or higher demonstrating competency in basic rodent procedures.
  • Comfortable working with rodent species.
  • Must maintain a valid Washington State Driver's license and possess a good driving record.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 0.5 years of experience in rodent handling.
  • ALAT certification.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar productivity software.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $22.21 to $31.61, with compensation based on experience and qualifications.
