Job Description

Overview

The Store Manager III is a key leadership role at Goodwill of Chesapeake, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a retail store. This includes managing staff, processing donations, achieving sales targets, and maintaining a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Store Operations
    • Manage the retail store, ensuring budgeted sales and production goals are met while controlling expenses.
    • Oversee daily production goals, ensuring products are put on the sales floor in a timely manner.
    • Appraise and price housewares and furniture to maximize monetary value.
    • Manage quality of goods, ensuring pricing and grading standards are followed.
    • Oversee and ensure compliance of all store salvaging in proper containers.
    • Maintain merchandising guidelines through colorization and classification of store inventory.
    • Create seasonal displays to enhance image and promote merchandise.
    • Reconcile cash with sales receipts, keep operating records, and prepare a daily record of transactions for accounting.
    • Play an active role in risk management, reporting known or suspected security and/or theft concerns.
  • Staff Management
    • Responsible for full-service staff management, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
    • Plan and prepare work schedules and assign employees to specific duties to maximize efficiency.
    • Monitor, review, process, and submit payroll in a timely manner.
    • Maintain a safe environment, investigating all accidents/injuries and documenting according to established policy.
    • Conduct monthly staff meetings, promoting communication and feedback.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three years of retail or related management experience at Store Manager level or above required.
  • Advanced education may be substituted for experience.
