Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our team in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at The University of Iowa. As a Hospitalist Physician Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive care to patients with cardiovascular and thoracic diseases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical and surgical management of patients with cardiovascular and thoracic diseases
  • Facilitate timely admissions, discharges, and transfers
  • Obtain complete health and medical histories from patients and families
  • Perform comprehensive physical exams and order lab tests as clinically indicated
  • Prescribe medications and provide anticipatory guidance and counseling to patients and families
  • Document patient assessment and plan of care in the electronic medical record
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Nursing or related field
  • Current board certification in specialty area and licensure as an ARNP in the State of Iowa
  • Reasonable experience in area of clinical practice (1-3 years)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Considerable experience in clinical Cardiothoracic surgery (3-5 years)
  • Experience with patient and staff education
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new programs
