Cardiothoracic Surgery Hospitalist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our team in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at The University of Iowa. As a Hospitalist Physician Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive care to patients with cardiovascular and thoracic diseases.
Key Responsibilities- Provide medical and surgical management of patients with cardiovascular and thoracic diseases
- Facilitate timely admissions, discharges, and transfers
- Obtain complete health and medical histories from patients and families
- Perform comprehensive physical exams and order lab tests as clinically indicated
- Prescribe medications and provide anticipatory guidance and counseling to patients and families
- Document patient assessment and plan of care in the electronic medical record
- Master's degree in Nursing or related field
- Current board certification in specialty area and licensure as an ARNP in the State of Iowa
- Reasonable experience in area of clinical practice (1-3 years)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Considerable experience in clinical Cardiothoracic surgery (3-5 years)
- Experience with patient and staff education
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new programs
