Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team at FDIHB. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Observe and assess the health status of patients by conducting physical assessments, interviewing patients and family members, and reviewing patient health history.
  • Initiate treatments, medications, emergency, and resuscitative measures based on appropriate utilization of provider orders, standing orders, and protocols.
  • Administer therapeutic measures as prescribed by medical or surgical providers, such as medication treatments, intravenous fluids, blood transfusions, oxygen therapy, etc.
  • Record observations, nursing interventions, therapeutic measures, hemodynamic monitoring data, and other relevant patient data in the unit.
  • Manage patients undergoing local anesthesia and intravenous (IV) sedation independently.
  • Provide specialized knowledge and skills to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients undergoing procedures.
  • Operate and monitor specialized equipment pertinent to the unit.
  • Collaborate with members of the medical/surgical and multidisciplinary teams in assessing, planning, and implementing interventions in patient healthcare management.
  • Provide intravenous and respiratory therapy for patients as indicated by circumstances and needs, following protocol.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise an appropriate problem-oriented nursing plan of care for patients and management of the unit, utilizing Standards of Care.
  • Monitor supplies and instruments to ensure sterility of materials used, furthering Quality Assurance of patient care.
  • Collaborate in developing and evaluating standards of care for patients.
  • Participate as a member of hospital committees relative to patient care.
  • Participate in planning and conducting continuing education in nursing care, quality assurance, performance improvement, and care of instruments and supplies.
  • Collaborate with team members and other personnel as needed to facilitate methods of resolution and solutions to problems.
  • Identify specific issues affecting program planning and development and work with nursing leadership to determine methods of solution to those problems.
  • Identify, initiate, and participate in nursing studies, audits, performance improvement programs, safety workshops, continuing education seminars, etc.
  • Function in any nursing unit as assigned and appropriate.
  • Complete all yearly Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) required training by indicated due dates.
  • Assist, promote, and support compliance with established CMS standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Mandatory Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years Registered Nurse (RN) experience.
  • Associate of Science degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
  • Valid and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in any U.S. State or Territory.
  • Valid American Heart Association (AHA) certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and maintain certification.
  • Obtain valid American Heart Association (AHA) certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within six (6) months from date of hire and maintain certification.

FDIHB and its facilities are located within the Navajo Nation and, in accordance with Navajo Nation law, has implemented a Navajo/Indian Preference in Employment Policy.

Pursuant to this Policy, applicants who meet the minimum qualifications for this position and who are enrolled members of the Navajo Nation will be given primary preference in hiring and employment for this position and members of other federally-recognized Indian tribes will be given secondary preference.

Other candidates will be considered only after all candidates entitled to primary or secondary preference have been fully considered.
