Role Overview:
The Chief Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless functioning of the maintenance division and the aesthetic appeal and operational efficiency of the hotel. This position encompasses the management of the company's maintenance and safety protocols, which include procurement, preventive maintenance, equipment servicing, security measures, and supervision of the maintenance team. - Oversee and coordinate the tasks of the maintenance staff, evaluating their performance to ensure adherence to established procedures and expectations.

- Contribute to the development of the annual operational budget and capital plans that align with the hotel's strategic objectives.

- Oversee the proper functioning of the hotel's systems and equipment, including safety systems, telecommunications, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and kitchen equipment.
- Ensure timely and courteous handling of maintenance requests, including logging and follow-up procedures.
- Recruit, train, supervise, mentor, and conduct performance evaluations for department staff.
- Maintain regular communication with management regarding the condition of the building and its systems, providing prudent and cost-effective maintenance proposals.
- Supervise any external contractors engaged for maintenance tasks.
- Adhere to all established work rules, procedures, and policies set forth by the company.
Qualifications and Requirements:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Familiarity with the operational standards of major hotel brands is preferred.
Essential Skills:
- Proficiency in the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Ability to read and write effectively to facilitate communication.
- Experience working in a team environment, often in a leadership capacity with minimal supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computational and computer skills are necessary.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, plumbing, and electrical systems is essential.
- Understanding of office procedures, material ordering, and compliance with city codes.
- Familiarity with laws governing employment and safety regulations.
