Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Electrical Automation Technician will be responsible for conducting preventative electrical maintenance on various machinery and performing necessary repairs as needed. This role requires collaboration with maintenance supervisors and fellow technicians to understand and implement electrical maintenance protocols for all relevant equipment. It is essential to ensure that all safety measures for equipment are adhered to while providing effective troubleshooting support for electrical challenges faced by other team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install electrical supply wiring and conduits for newly integrated machinery and systems.
  • Connect electrical supply lines to machinery and interconnect cables and wires between different equipment.
  • Identify and rectify issues in malfunctioning devices such as transformers, motors, and lighting systems, including the replacement of damaged wires and cables.
  • Conduct tests on malfunctioning equipment and collaborate with other maintenance personnel to diagnose issues.
  • Replace defective electrical components in machinery, including relays, switches, motors, and positioning sensors.
  • Diagnose and repair or substitute faulty electronic parts, such as printed circuit boards.
  • Replace bearings in electric motors.
  • Utilize control systems, teach pendants, and programmable controllers to program and test automated machinery for operational integrity and repair verification.
  • Plan and execute the layout of wiring, installing conduits and electrical apparatus within facilities.
  • Diagnose and replace defective mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components in machinery and systems.
  • Perform the duties of a Maintenance Mechanic III when electrical tasks are not required.

Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma along with an AAS Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; or an Electrical Automation Degree in progress; or a comparable combination of education and experience is necessary.

Basic to intermediate computer proficiency is required.

General Requirements:

Candidates must possess a solid understanding of company, state, and federal safety regulations, as well as local, state, and federal electrical code standards. Experience with three-phase motors and controls is essential. Familiarity with PLC systems (Inputs, Outputs, Logic, and programming in Ladder Logic, Block Diagram, etc.) is beneficial. Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office, internet navigation, and email communication, are required. Experience in interpreting technical drawings and electrical schematics is necessary, along with the ability to troubleshoot circuit issues. The ability to work collaboratively in a team setting is crucial. Bilingual capabilities are advantageous.
