Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with a mission to be the most trusted driver. As a Senior Data Engineer on the Perception team, you will play a critical role in developing and maintaining the infrastructure and tools necessary to understand vast amounts of Waymo driving data, curate datasets, ensure data availability and quality, and accelerate development of Perception and the Waymo driver.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Maintain Data Infrastructure: Design, develop, and maintain large-scale data processing and retrieval systems and pipelines to generate reliable, high-quality data for Perception foundation model development.
- Deploy and Maintain Data Pipelines: Deploy and maintain end-to-end data pipelines that deliver the foundation model data, ensuring data availability and quality.
- Curate and Deliver Data Sets: Curate and deliver data sets, for both nominal and rare instances, that support the diverse ML tasks for Perception foundation models.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with foundation model, Perception evaluation, and ML infrastructure teams to integrate data generation into model training and evaluation frameworks.
- Ensure Infrastructure Reliability: Responsible for infrastructure reliability, data availability, and data quality.
- Programming Skills: Outstanding programming skills in C++ or Python.
- Large-Scale Data Processing: Hands-on experience building large-scale data processing and retrieval systems and pipelines: Apache Spark, Apache Beam, Google Cloud Dataflow, AWS Data Pipeline, or Faiss.
- ML Data Engineering Experience: 3+ years of experience in ML data engineering, including data pipelines, data curation, and data balancing.
- Collaboration and Communication: 3+ years of experience working in integrated settings to support data users and collaborating with infrastructure partners; customer-oriented mindset.
- Education and Experience: MS and 1+ years of industrial experience, or equivalent.
