Position Overview: COBOL Developer

Essential Qualifications:

  • Possession of a programming certificate or degree; a minimum of 2 years from a community college is required, with a preference for a 4-year Computer Science degree.
  • Alternatively, candidates without a degree must demonstrate at least 8-10 years of practical experience in a related position.
  • A Master's degree with a minimum of 4 years of pertinent experience is also acceptable.

Technical Expertise Required:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Cat mainframe environment, ideally with GIS Cluster C/A focusing on COBOL development.
  • At least 3 years of SQL / DB2 programming experience on mainframe systems.
  • 3+ years of development experience with IMS or CICS.
  • Experience of 2+ years using debugging tools such as Xpeditor and Abend-Aid.
  • At least 2 years of experience collaborating with end-users on IT requirements and testing.
  • Familiarity with FSA/SOX Controls is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on existing mainframe applications and document findings through flowcharting.
  • Enhance and improve current applications.
  • Develop custom one-time-use programs for data adjustments.
  • Maintain documentation for change evidence to ensure compliance with FSA/SOX regulations.
