Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Bridge Carpenter Foreperson to lead our team in heavy civil and highway construction projects throughout Northeast PA and the Lehigh Valley.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all work according to OSHA and H&K Safety policies
  • Read blueprints and job-related documents to properly plan work
  • Record daily events in job diary
  • Schedule materials, equipment, and work for the crew
  • Develop crew SIP's and submit to site Foreperson
  • Track daily quantities and submit to site Foreperson
  • Conduct daily huddles with crew to establish daily production goals and ensure all members of crew know and buy into the plan for the day
  • Communicate goals and purposes effectively. Lead and demonstrate by example
  • Influence and enforce company values. Recognize misalignments with company values and culture and rectify
  • Proactively train and mentor crew members to enhance their skills and knowledge
  • Communicate with customer representatives and inspectors in a courteous and professional manner
  • Perform all other duties of crew members as needed
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university OR one year of related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Working knowledge and ability to safely and efficiently understand and direct carpentry crew
  • Ability to read blueprints and job-related documents
  • Ability to operate surveying instrument, shoot elevations and straight lines
  • Experience with pile driving and drilling equipment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer skills including internet, email, and the use of digital cameras for work documentation
  • Driver's license and clean driving record
  • Ability to travel as required for projects
  • Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
  • Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of relevant experience and/or training
  • Experience operating heavy equipment used in highway construction
  • Supervisory experience
  • OSHA or other relevant safety certifications
Work Environment

Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, high, precarious places, and frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and noise level is usually moderate.
