Job Title: Driver Class A

At RA Metals, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Driver Class A to join our team. As a Driver Class A, you will be responsible for safely operating a tractor-trailer to transport goods and materials to various locations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive a tractor-trailer to destination, providing accurate, timely, and courteous service.
  • Collect signatures for goods delivered and collect payment for goods delivered, following proper procedures.
  • Maintain driver logbook or ELD device, trip reports, fuel tickets, toll tickets, and vehicle condition reports to comply with state and federal regulations.
  • Operate the truck following all safety policies, laws, and maintain a safe driving record.
  • Inspect truck equipment and supplies, conduct pre-trip inspections, and secure loads using runners, boards, ratchet straps, chains, and binders.
  • Assist in loading and unloading trucks, recommend optimal delivery routes, and observe all company safety practices and procedures.
  • Present a professional image in appearance and behavior with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Accurately verify items and quantities during delivery and report and document any delivery variances.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); twelve months CDL driving experience required.
  • Current driver's license and D.O.T. certification with CDL license, Class A.
  • Hazardous Materials Endorsement preferred.
Physical Demands:

The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear, and use sense of smell. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must be able to routinely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 75 pounds.

Work Environment:

The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration. Occasionally, the employee may be exposed to a warehouse space that is not climate controlled. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
