Job Description

As a Senior Data Scientist at McGraw Hill, you will be part of a team that designs and develops AI/ML models for our School (PreK-12) business unit. Your primary responsibility will be to collaborate with colleagues across functions to create and deliver world-class educational experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, execute, and report on projects of diverse scope independently with weekly manager check-ins.
  • Support/guide junior colleagues, including acting as team lead on shared projects.
  • Propose solutions to business problems based on limited information and precedent.
  • Solve problems by adopting, adapting, and/or extending existing DS/AI approaches.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in other functions to support the creation of compelling learning experiences.
  • Learn how to balance multiple projects and revise project plans as circumstances change.
Requirements:
  • Doctoral degree (or equivalent) in AI, Data Science, or related field.
  • 2+ years of applicable experience after doctorate in a related field.
  • Conceptual knowledge of DS/AI through rigorous course work and industry applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply DS/AI knowledge to lead projects from start to finish.
  • Production experience with ML, NLP, Deep Learning, and/or LLM systems.
  • Ability to create efficient, scalable Python code.
  • Experience with the K-12 educational ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with assessment in K-12.
  • Commitment to the field of education.
  • Strong technical communication and collaboration skills.

The pay range for this position is between $140,975 - $160,000 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
