We are seeking a highly qualified lecturer to teach studio art and art history courses at San Jose State University. Responsibilities- Teach studio art and art history courses, including undergraduate seminars in art history and studio art.
- Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with departmental goals and objectives.
- Assess student learning and provide feedback to students.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of departmental policies and procedures.
- Engage in scholarly activities, such as research and publication, to maintain expertise in the field.
- Master of Fine Arts degree or Ph.D. in Art History, Visual Culture, or related field.
- Experience teaching studio art and art history courses at the university level.
- Strong background in art history and studio art, with a demonstrated ability to teach a variety of courses.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Ability to use Canvas Learning Management System and other technology tools to support teaching and learning.
- Familiarity with emerging areas of artistic practice and theory.
- Ability to read and write at a high level and successfully direct and assess student writing.
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including students from underrepresented groups.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to departmental goals and objectives.
