Make a Difference in the Lives of Youth

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Specialist to join our team at the Ohio Department of Commerce. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and supportive environment for the youth in our care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide safety and security for assigned youth, ensuring their well-being and protection.
  • Utilize training and expertise to de-escalate conflicts and intervene in crisis situations.
  • Manage and maintain security during family visits, promoting positive interactions and a safe environment.
  • Complete all required documentation, including reports, logs, and evaluations.
  • Oversee movement on facility grounds and outside trips, ensuring the safety and supervision of youth.
  • Monitor and instruct youth on general housekeeping duties, promoting a clean and healthy environment.
  • Maintain awareness of unusual behavior and crisis situations, taking prompt action to address any concerns.
  • Collaborate with division leadership to provide information and support.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must successfully complete Juvenile Correctional Officer assessment.
  • Must be 21 years of age at time of application.
