Position Overview

The role encompasses the comprehensive management of projects from the proposal stage through to construction completion. Responsibilities include supervising all technical elements of airport and site development initiatives, ensuring quality control and assurance across all documentation, and coordinating with engineers and sub-consultants.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:

  • Oversee the design and management of engineering projects related to airports and site development, ensuring accuracy and completeness in all design efforts.
  • Collaborate with team members to address various design components, ensuring clear objectives are established for conventional plans, surveys, and structures.
  • Prepare comprehensive project documentation, including plans, specifications, and engineering estimates, while systematically organizing project data.
  • Evaluate and adapt standard techniques and procedures to project assignments, effectively formulating solutions to challenges.
  • Manage multiple projects of varying sizes, optimizing time management to adhere to budget constraints and delivery timelines.
  • Develop proposals that include bid documents, project reports, and other essential documentation.
  • Participate in project meetings, presenting specific engineering aspects and coordinating technical and administrative activities with internal departments.
  • Ensure compliance with firm and contract requirements in all engineering activities, supporting the overall project schedule, scope, and budget.
  • Interpret contract specifications and resolve conflicts with contractors regarding specifications, workmanship, and material quality.
  • Maintain a record of project milestones and ongoing issues, preparing monthly status reports and change orders.
  • Engage in client and contractor meetings to address project-related issues.
  • Draft project scopes, tasks, budgets, and schedules.

Business Development:

  • Support marketing and business development initiatives.
  • Engage in industry forums and identify potential clients.
  • Collaborate with clients, officials, contractors, and project team members.
  • Prepare scope and fee proposals for review.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and stormwater modeling software.
  • Strong skills in MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word.

Required Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of Federal and State funding and approval processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with employees, management, and clients at all levels.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet critical deadlines.
  • Capacity to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive client information.
  • Excellent command of English, including spelling, grammar, and vocabulary.

Licensure:

  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Preferred: Florida Professional Engineer licensure with the ability to obtain licensure in other states.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position includes supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

The role is primarily office-based, with occasional site visits in outdoor settings. While nights and weekends are generally not required, they may be necessary with little notice.

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to communicate effectively, sit for extended periods, and occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Personal Protective Equipment:

As per client site protocols, the candidate will be required to use appropriate personal protective equipment.
