About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Java Developer to join our dynamic team of developers and architects at Raymond James. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the development of major transformation initiatives and working closely with our technical teams to deliver innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze complex system requirements and identify program interactions and interfaces between impacted components and sub systems.
- Make recommendations for the development of new code or the reuse of existing code.
- Lead or participate in assigned projects, including assigning tasks, coordinating efforts, and monitoring performance.
- Recommend new technologies and methodologies to management to meet business needs, resolve problems, and exploit opportunities.
- Participate in software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
- Provide technical advice and assist in solving programming problems.
- Write and/or review system specifications, including output requirements and flow charts.
- Assist in preparing project plans using project management tools.
- Review test results, document test activities, and record remedial actions.
- Ensure proper analysis of problems and programming approaches to prevent rework and schedule slippage.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Computer Science, MIS, or related degree and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant development or engineering experience or combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience in distributed architectures, strong object-oriented background, distributed caching, and messaging paradigms.
- Experience working with Oracle database (creating DDL and writing/tuning SQL queries).
- Experience working with Scrum-oriented Agile methodologies and project management.
- Experience in writing clean, scalable code using good architectural patterns, experience in performance optimization – concurrent programming, memory management, JVM tuning, etc.
- Strong knowledge of Java programming language and knowledge of following technologies/frameworks: Spring, Spring Boot, AspectJ, Spring JDBC templates, Spring caching, EHCache, Quartz, JAX-RS, JMS, JBoss application server, Apache CXF.
- Good knowledge of DevOps & collaboration tools: Jenkins, Splunk, GIT, TFS, Sonar.
- Familiarity with architecture styles/APIs/Protocols (REST, SOAP).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the financial services industry.
- Experience with Java Script/Angular JS.
- Experience with TFS.
- Experience with IBM MQ.
- Experience in project management, enterprise implementation, leadership experience, strategic planning, business acumen, application development, change management.
