Senior Mechanical Engineer for Mission Critical Systems

Position Overview:
SmithGroup is a renowned design firm that integrates research, data, and technology with creativity to create sustainable and inclusive environments that address our clients' most pressing challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct analysis, design, and documentation of HVAC systems and controls.
- Perform system evaluations and generate technical reports.
- Review submissions, RFIs, and contractor change orders while conducting site assessments.
- Coordinate the efforts of mechanical designers and junior personnel assigned to projects.
- Assist with site visits for construction observation, contractor inquiries, and punch list preparation.
- Develop planning and design concepts for various projects.
- Prepare presentation materials and assist in both internal and external presentations.
- Mentor and guide junior staff members.
- Oversee all facets of mechanical design and related disciplines.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience, including 3-4 years focused on mission-critical technical design and consulting in HVAC for healthcare, research labs, higher education, or data center facilities.
- PE License and LEED AP certification preferred.
- Proficiency in Revit, Trane TRACE 700, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with three-dimensional CFD modeling and analysis of data center airflow and cooling efficiency.
- Knowledge in designing and optimizing mission-critical cooling technologies, including air and liquid cooling.
