Job Summary:

ATC White Plains is seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist to join our team. As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for performing routine and special procedure imaging, preparing patients for procedures, and assisting radiologists as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and position patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol.
  • Assume responsibilities for designated areas and/or procedures and produce good technical images, reviewing completed scans for quality and completeness.
  • Assist physicians during procedures as necessary.
  • Perform quality assurance and calibrations as needed.
  • Work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise in the department.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of all areas, equipment, and accessories.
  • Report all malfunctioning equipment to the MRI supervisor.
  • Print patient CDs if needed.
  • Perform routine office duties, such as answering phones, checking previous reports/films, and documenting information on patient requests.
  • Notify front desk staff upon exam completion.
  • Show radiologists images and call reports to attending physicians and document communication if necessary.
  • May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor.
  • Introduce themselves and educate each patient or family member regarding the examination ordered.
  • Be knowledgeable and skillful in providing care based on age, physical, and psychosocial stature of patient populations.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-services.
Requirements:
  • Must graduate from an accredited radiography school or hospital-based program.
  • Must be certified by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) and become ARRT MR certified within 1 year of hire.
  • State DOH licensure or limited permit required.
  • Continuing education requirements must be upheld to meet the standards set forth by governing bodies.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required or must be completed within 90 days of hire.
  • IV certification preferred or by completion of 6-month orientation.
  • MRI safety certification level 2 required yearly.

Work Environment:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside all of the MRI zones to access coils, patients, and paperwork.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with patients who have questions about their bills/financial obligations.
  • Must be able to observe and inspect employees and patients in all of the MRI zones.
  • Frequently move and position patients for MRI exams.
  • May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks.
