Radiology Interventional Technologist Job Specialty:
Interventional Radiology Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: ; 5x8
Hr Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week Experience: Minimum years of experience not specified License: Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) with advanced registry in one of the following: Cardiac-Interventional Radiography (CI), Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI), or Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography (CV)
Certifications:
Must maintain Healthcare Provider certification (BLS)
Must-Have:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
equivalent; Continued medical education as required Job Description:
- Specializes in performing procedures of an invasive nature to aid in the evaluation of pathological entities.
- Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the examination.
- Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary.
- Prepares prescribed contrast media, medications, and IV solutions for administration.
- Reviews clinical data, analyzes anatomical structure, sets up equipment, and assists Radiologist with diagnostic invasive procedures.
- Prepares and sets up sterile equipment, physiological monitors, pressure injectors, and imaging equipment for procedures.
- Ensures adequate supplies such as needles and catheters are available and properly stored.
- Actively assesses patient condition before, during, and following procedures.
- Manually controls equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information.
- May assist in training new personnel and students.
- Performs all imaging procedures, demonstrating principles of radiation protection.
- Resolves any image exceptions, ensuring high-quality image delivery into PACS.
- Completes study indexing in the Radiology Information System.
- Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with Radiologist before performing studies.
- Demonstrates consistent adherence to Team Member Standards of Excellence.
- Performs Quality Assurance procedures as appropriate.
- Documents in the medical record and radiology information system to support clinical and billing functions.
- Utilizes independent judgment in determining imaging techniques, patient positioning, and safety practices.
