Job Summary:

As a Home Health Speech Therapist with Virginia Home Care Services Inc, you will provide one-on-one care to patients in their homes to help them with communication, language difficulties, swallowing problems, and cognitive disorders. You will work independently, but collaborate with other members of the patient's care team, such as RN, Physical Therapist, and other members of our Skilled team. Your work will focus on helping your patients complete daily tasks like eating, performing basic household tasks that involve communicating with family members, and using the phone. It's all done with the ultimate goal of helping clients achieve independence.

Responsibilities:

Conducting oral, pharyngeal, and motor breathing exercises
Helping patients communicate both verbally and nonverbally
Educating family members
Conducting structured memory and problem-solving tasks

Requirements:

Have a master's or doctoral degree in speech-language pathology
Have an active speech-language pathologist (SLP) license in Virginia
Have at least two years of speech therapy experience, ideally in home healthcare
Have a certificate of clinical competence in speech from the American Speech and Hearing Association, or have equivalent educational requirements
Be knowledgeable of state and federal home health regulations
Have good clinical judgment and be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare providers
