Job Title: Senior Project Manager - Development, Engineering and Construction

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager to join our team at 38 Degrees North. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for leading the engineering and construction of solar and battery storage projects from early development to completion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and engineering of solar and battery projects, including initial layouts and energy estimates.
  • Manage the selection process for contractors and equipment vendors, conducting comprehensive due diligence.
  • Negotiate and administer construction and supply agreements, ensuring timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, construction oversight, and EPC contract milestone payments.
  • Guarantee project quality by coordinating on-site inspections and liaising with third-party providers.
  • Lead weekly project progress meetings and coordinate on-site visits with construction teams.
  • Systematically identify, monitor, and communicate project risks, ensuring all project documentation is up to date.
  • Effectively communicate project updates, risks, and issues within the company and with external partners.
  • Serve as 38DN's in-house expert on project engineering, construction, and EPC contracting, offering insights and guidance across the organization.
  • Lead after-action reviews to cultivate continuous improvement and contribute to the evolution of internal operating policies and standards.
Requirements:
  • 3-5+ years of experience in solar project engineering and/or construction management.
  • Relevant bachelor's degree preferred, advanced degree in a related field is valued but not mandatory.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with a history of managing financial, technical, and contractual aspects of construction projects.
  • Experience with solar project modeling and engineering software, including PVsyst, PVcase, Helioscope, Energy Toolbase, and CAD.
  • Experience with the project development process, including interconnection and permitting.
  • Experience with contract negotiation and overseeing due diligence processes.
  • Quick to adapt and eager to grow within a thriving, fast-paced environment.
  • Well-organized, vigilant, and competent in juggling multiple project details.
  • Proficient in working under pressure, adhering to deadlines, and embracing additional responsibilities proactively.
  • Outstanding communication abilities, both written and verbal, with proficiency in preparing detailed reports and presentations.
  • Collaborative spirit, a good sense of humor, and a driven, mission-oriented approach.
