Facility Maintenance Attendant

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the Buildings & Grounds Director, this role is essential for upholding the cleanliness and sanitary standards of the facility, both inside and out.
Responsibilities include:
- Greeting all individuals by name when possible and expressing gratitude appropriately.
- Ensuring the mission and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester are represented in all interactions.
- Performing cleaning duties in bathrooms, offices, locker rooms, hallways, and other designated areas through vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing.
- Conducting minor maintenance repairs and assisting other departments with setups for meetings and events.
- Being available for work during shutdown periods as necessary.
- Executing restorative cleaning tasks such as stripping and polishing floors and cleaning carpets.
- Managing waste by emptying and cleaning trash containers.
- Rearranging and dusting furniture and fixtures as needed.
- Clearing snow and salting sidewalks during inclement weather.
- Reporting any damages or repair needs to the supervisor.
- Utilizing cleaning supplies efficiently and maintaining cleanliness in all storage areas.
- Interacting with staff, members, and the public in a professional manner.
- Assisting with special projects across various facilities.
- Responding to emergencies in accordance with training.
- Attending mandatory training sessions and meetings.
- Completing other assigned duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or GED. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
This position requires strong teamwork capabilities and the ability to work independently. Good communication skills and effective interpersonal interactions are essential.
Experience or the ability to understand general cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of various flooring types is necessary.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to stand and move for extended periods in a typical indoor and outdoor environment, with some exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations.
Mobility within the building, including movement between floors and outside.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis and handle cleaning chemicals and human body fluids as part of daily operations.
COMPENSATION: $15.50 per hour
