Job Summary

The Principal Engineer will contribute to the product team through product design, testing, data analysis, and project management. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to clearly present information to engineering teammates, engineering managers, and product management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a deep understanding of theories, concepts, technical principles, and processes related to fluid, thermal, and other mechanical aspects of electrical panels used on commercial or industrial equipment.
  • Contribute to the on-time completion of programs and regularly report on the status of projects.
  • Develop proficiency in mechanical design and conceptualize and implement design ideas into CAD models and physical prototypes.
  • Apply regulatory codes such as UL and CE, as well as learn specific regional requirements needed for global markets.
  • Work closely with the design and manufacturing teams to generate layout concepts and system configurations that balance cost, performance, and reliability.
  • Coordinate and execute test programs to validate performance and reliability of mechanical systems and components.
  • Analyze, design, modify, and/or troubleshoot mechanical sub-components and electrical sub-systems based on test data, simulation, and CFD results.
  • Generate and review technical documentation for use within the product team and for distribution to external customers.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel (less than 10%).

Requirements
  • BS in Engineering or related science.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a related field.
  • Preferred experience with CREO and 3D modeling of sheet metal and cabling.
  • Proficient with organizing and processing large amounts of data.
  • Experience with product development and sustaining of configurable systems.
  • Ability to mentor and train other engineers.
