Audiology Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Audiologist to join our team at the Lexington School and Center for the Deaf. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitative audiological services to clients in the community.
The Audiologist will serve as a member of the audiology team, working closely with staff, consultants, and outside agencies to provide expert care and support to our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Provide audiological services, including audiometric testing and management, to clients of the Lexington Hearing and Speech Center.
- Perform independent evaluations, interpretations, and diagnoses of auditory system function.
- Develop individualized recommendations, treatment plans, and provide patient/family counseling and education.
- Conduct hearing aid evaluations, make recommendations regarding appropriate amplification, and maintain accurate records.
- Maintain contact with manufacturers of audiological/amplification equipment to ensure knowledge of current practices and products.
- Serve as a resource to clients, students, staff, and parents in relation to audiology.
- Network with staff, consultants, and outside agencies on related issues.
- Collaborate with school management, faculty, and staff on communication skills issues.
- Demonstrate professional behavior during interactions.
- Support the school's Strategic Planning initiatives with an emphasis on culture.
- Possess considerable knowledge of audiology methods and techniques used in the diagnosis and treatment of communication disorders of hearing.
- Must have operating knowledge of audiometric instruments.
- Strong experience working with cochlear implants.
- Ability and experience working independently, using critical thinking skills and processes to arrive at objective, strategic, results-oriented decisions within the context of patient care and department, division, and organizational priorities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with audiological team, faculty, and staff.
- Comfortable working with both children and adults.
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Strong written and oral communication capabilities.
- Doctorate degree in Audiology, if graduated after 2007.
- Master's Degree in audiology, if graduated prior to 2007.
- Must hold current NYS Audiology licensure.
- NYS Hearing Aid Dispensing license.
- Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech and Hearing Association or eligible to obtain.
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience with experience in pediatric audiology strongly preferred.
- Required clearances include medical clearance, fingerprinted by the NYC Board of Ed, SCR, and SEL clearance.
- Must have the ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
