Position Overview
The Anesthesia Technician plays a vital role in supporting the anesthesia care team by assisting with patient care tasks. Responsibilities include the cleaning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of anesthesia equipment, as well as managing the turnover of operating rooms and coordinating supply management with materials management.
- Maintain and clean anesthesia carts, machines, and various equipment, including fiberoptic bronchoscopes and laryngoscopes.
- Ensure adequate supply levels by stocking and notifying supervisors of any inventory issues, with the ability to initiate emergency resolutions.
- Respond promptly to the needs of anesthesia practitioners for supplies, equipment, and pharmaceuticals, including emergency calls to any operating room.
- Perform sterilization or high-level disinfection of equipment such as laryngoscope blades and fiberoptic bronchoscopes, and coordinate repairs with Clinical Engineering as necessary.
- Assist in preparing operating rooms by cleaning and setting up supplies for subsequent cases while staff are attending to patients in recovery.
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills and prioritize tasks effectively, proactively addressing the needs of practitioners and patients.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring proper placement of trash, linen, and supplies.
- Provide assistance in patient care as needed, regardless of departmental assignment.
This position does not involve management responsibilities and reports to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Skills and Experience
Completion of job-related coursework beyond high school, preferably up to 12 months in Anesthesia Technology.
