Position Overview:
The role of the Correctional Programs Specialist (Senior Correctional Programs Specialist) is pivotal in ensuring a humane and secure environment within correctional facilities, while also prioritizing public safety by facilitating the successful reintegration of individuals into society.

Key Responsibilities:
1. **Task Management:** Oversee the tracking, delegation, investigation, and response to inquiries from congressional representatives, government officials, bureau staff, and the public.
2. **Expertise Development:** Serve as a regional authority on offender issues, including VWP, CIM, IFRP, RPP, and various inmate programs.
3. **Problem Resolution:** Act as a troubleshooter to address complex challenges faced by the Bureau.
4. **Resource Provision:** Offer guidance to field staff on unit and case management procedures and policies.
5. **Training and Development:** Design, implement, and document staff assist visits for facilities within the region, and provide training for both BOP and non-BOP personnel on relevant policies and procedures.

Program Evaluation:
Conduct thorough reviews of current program modalities and techniques, presenting their pros and cons, while making specific recommendations for improvement. Accumulate data for statistical analysis of programs, assisting in their evaluation and impact on Correctional Programs policies.

National Program Development:
Contribute to the creation of national program statements related to Correctional Programs and assist in the review and update of Program Review guidelines.

Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $128,717 - $167,336 per year.

Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess:
- **Education:** No substitution of education for specialized experience is allowed.
- **Experience:** A minimum of one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, demonstrating substantial involvement with correctional programs and a comprehensive understanding of correctional techniques.

Examples of Relevant Experience:
- Experience in investigating grievances related to unit/case management policies.
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis to assess the impact on policies.
- Experience in reviewing proposals or program statements and providing constructive feedback.

Additional Information:
This position is not included in the bargaining unit and requires successful completion of a urinalysis, physical, and background investigation. Telework is available in accordance with agency policy.
