Job Summary

The Transportation Supervisor provides direct supervision for a group of assigned Drivers at McLane Company. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, timely, and accurate deliveries to customers via a thorough working knowledge of multi-stop routing systems and dispatch procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Achieve safe, timely, and accurate deliveries to customers by reviewing driver logs, hours of service, and other DOT requirements to ensure compliance with all state, local and federal regulations.
  • Coordinate activities with other distribution center departments to ensure that accurate and timely deliveries occur.
  • Manage and maintain a thorough understanding of transportation operations, including routing systems, dispatch procedures, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve transportation efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Provide guidance and support to Drivers to ensure they have the necessary tools and resources to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues that may arise.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of transportation management experience in the food distribution industry.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and experience with truck routing software.
  • Ability to work a varied and flexible schedule.
  • Basic competency with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook, Word).
