Job Title: Mechanical Engineering Technology Faculty

Pellissippi State Community College is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a faculty position in Mechanical Engineering Technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Associate of Applied Science-level MET/ENST/EMEC classes and laboratories, creating instructional materials and laboratory experiences, promoting the MET program through local, regional, and national engagement, participating in program assessment activities related to accreditations, certification, and grant parameters, performing student advising, and completing other departmental services as required.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach Mechanical Engineering Technology classes, including engineering materials, manufacturing processes, statics, strength of materials, geometric dimensioning & tolerancing, applied mechanics with dynamics, fluid mechanics/fluid power, and related engineering physics concepts.
  • Create instructional materials and laboratory experiences for Mechanical Engineering Technology classes.
  • Promote the Mechanical Engineering Technology program through local, regional, and national engagement.
  • Participate in program assessment activities related to accreditations, certification, and grant parameters.
  • Perform student advising and complete other departmental services as required.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or a closely-related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant industrial experience, and/or experience in a related research and development, and/or experience teaching a broad range of engineering technology-based classes.
  • Higher education teaching experience beyond the level of Teaching Assistant or Research Assistant (Community College teaching experience, or a clear commitment to the community college ethos, and experience teaching online preferred).
  • Evidence of strong oral and written communication, computer, and presentation skills.
  • A commitment to student success.
  • Motivation to develop partnerships with industry.

  • Professional registration.
  • Extensive relevant teaching experience.
  • Extensive relevant industrial experience.
