Position Overview: The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for the strategic planning, development, coordination, and management of specialized construction craft activities for EPC projects. This role involves assisting in the formulation of execution plans and ensuring the effective development and implementation of craft work packaging.

Compensation Details: Compensation includes a per diem that will be determined on a project-by-project basis. Company-provided transportation and trips home will be arranged as applicable. Further details will be outlined in the Samuel EPC Employee Exempt Handbook.

Salary Structure: The salary rate is fixed for each project and will not increase based on additional hours worked. Different pay rates apply for home office assignments compared to field assignments.

Work Schedule: The work schedule is location-dependent, requiring open availability at any time throughout the week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Construction Manager, Site Safety Representative, and Site Quality Representative to enforce project safety and quality protocols.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise the construction activities of site foremen, craft personnel, and field engineers on assigned projects.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of the respective craft and specifications to foster a successful craft department.
  • Effectively communicate equipment, material, personnel, and testing requirements necessary for departmental success.
  • Engage with the Construction Manager, Project Manager, Project Engineer, client representatives, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with all company, client, and project policies.
  • Review design constructability with the Construction Manager and General Superintendent to meet quality, cost, and schedule commitments.
  • Facilitate the establishment of project schedules and address scheduling challenges while ensuring quality, safety, budget, and performance objectives are met.
  • Represent the company and project team during bidding processes, project scope development, client meetings, and project management discussions.
  • Maintain precise standards of accuracy in all tasks.
  • Work alongside the Construction Manager/General Superintendent to monitor construction flow, scheduling, personnel management, budgets, and safety and quality targets.
  • Provide timely updates on work progress and forecast material or personnel needs, submitting requisitions as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with other superintendents and site management regarding job site needs, challenges, and concerns.

Compliance: Adhere to company policies as outlined in the Samuel EPC Exempt Employee Handbook, as well as the Samuel EPC Human Resources Policy Manual and Safety Manual, including OSHA regulations.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of seven (7) years of formal training and experience in heavy industrial projects, including refineries, petrochemical complexes, and power plants.
  • Familiarity with construction methods, techniques, and labor requirements applicable to industrial construction projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with project team members, craft personnel, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to manage craft personnel, budgets, and construction timelines effectively.
  • Proficiency in current construction technologies, including Primavera P6, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDF modification tools like Bluebeam or Adobe, is preferred.
  • Possession of applicable state construction licenses is advantageous.
  • Previous hands-on experience in a foreman role is essential.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Capable of using arms and hands to reach for, handle, or manipulate objects.
  • Must be able to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance for heavier items.
  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, and other structures while carrying tools and equipment.
  • Physical capability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed.
  • Good vision (naturally or with correction) and hand-eye coordination.
  • Maintain good physical fitness and balance.
  • Willingness to work at significant heights.
