Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Contingent Inpatient Pharmacist to provide clinical support and medication distribution services to ensure high-quality, safe, and cost-effective drug therapy to patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and evaluate physicians' medication orders to ensure appropriate drug therapy for each patient.
  • Review, maintain, and screen patient medication orders and profiles for allergies, drug-drug interactions, and therapeutic duplication.
  • Communicate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to intervene on unclear or inappropriate orders.
  • Provide drug/poison information education programs to healthcare professionals.
  • Accurately prepare and dispense medications and IV admixtures to inpatients and outpatients.
  • Compound and dispense medications and injectables, adhering to USP 797/800 Guidelines.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and interns in distributive functions and department operations.
  • Assist in training and orientation of new pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy interns.
  • Maintain control and accountability for disposition of Controlled Substances, dangerous or toxic drugs, and investigational drugs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy or equivalent.
  • Registered pharmacist possessing or eligible for a Michigan Pharmacist and Controlled Substance license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Previous hospital, retail, or long-term care experience.
