Job Summary

The Speech Therapist provides high-quality, patient-centered care by developing and conducting individualized therapy programs for patients with communication, cognitive, and/or swallowing impairments. As a member of the health care team, the Speech Therapist performs comprehensive patient assessments and establishes appropriate treatment goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct subjective assessments of patients' speech and language abilities during spontaneous conversation.
  • Administer objective tests to assess patients' communication assets and liabilities.
  • Structure and implement individualized patient programs to improve communication abilities.
  • Evaluate patients regularly during treatment and adjust programs as needed to maximize patient progress.
  • Document progress in patients' charts, including notes, charges, discharge notes, and patient communication.
  • Consult with the Program Director and Rehab Physician/Medical Director regarding pre-screen assessments and physician consultations to determine appropriate placement of potential patients.
Requirements
  • A valid certificate of clinical competence issued by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and a Colorado License.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
  • A Master's degree or Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university.
  • Hospital/Rehab experience preferred, but Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidates are accepted.
  • Ability to perform all evaluations, assessments, treatment planning, and test interpretation required in this position.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Competency in modified barium swallows and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of the Swallow (FEES) experience desired but not required.
