Job Title: Environmental Lab TechnicianOur client, a leading provider of analytical services, is seeking a skilled Environmental Lab Technician to contribute to their mission of delivering accurate and reliable analysis results.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for examining bulk building materials and environmental samples for asbestos content using Polarized Light Microscopy techniques. Additionally, they will participate in air sample preparation for fiber count analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform qualitative mineral characterization and quantitative analysis using Polarized Light Microscopy techniques.
- Utilize in-house and published methods such as EPA 600 R-93/116, ELAP 198.1, ELAP 198.6, ELAP 198.8, EPA 600 R-04/004 (Cincinnati Method), NIOSH 9002, and CARB 435.
- Prepare air samples for fiber count analysis following NIOSH 7400 A and B rules.
- Participate in round robin and proficiency tests to ensure accuracy and precision in analysis results.
- Adhere to quality assurance and quality control (QAQC) procedures set forth by regulatory agencies including AIHA, NVLAP, and NYSDOH.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records of analysis results.
- Collaborate with team members and contribute to a supportive work environment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geology, or related field.
- Experience working with Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) techniques and asbestos analysis methods preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite for data entry and reporting.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to participate in cross-training opportunities in TEM and chemical analysis areas.
