We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Clinical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at KA Recruiting Inc. as a Histology Technician. As a key member of our laboratory operations team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our histology tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform specimen embedding and microtomy according to established protocols and procedures.
  • Participate in quality control/quality assurance procedures to ensure accurate results and maintain high standards of quality.
  • File blocks and slides meticulously, maintaining organized documentation and facilitating slide distribution.
  • Assist in supply inventory management and ordering processes as needed to ensure seamless laboratory operations.
  • Utilize LIS (Laboratory Information System), Powerpath, and Omni-Trax proficiently for data management and analysis.
  • Operate the Cryostat effectively for the preparation of frozen sections.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and utilize various histology equipment, including tissue processors, staining machines, and others.
  • Perform slide cover slipping and labeling with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Execute H/E and special staining techniques and prepare solutions as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • NYSDOH licensure as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Histotechnician, Histotechnologist, Technician, or Technologist.
  • An Associate's Degree from a relevant course of study as defined by NYS clinical laboratory licensing requirements.
  • High school diploma will be considered only if the individual possesses designated experience defined by NYS and has obtained their NYS license through the grandparenting pathway defined by NYS.
  • 6 months to 1 year of experience in a surgical pathology laboratory.
  • Exposure to computer systems and proficiency in relevant software.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
