Behavior Support Assistant

YAI/iHOPE is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional - Behavior Support to join our team. As a Paraprofessional - Behavior Support, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex behavioral needs in our school community.
Job Summary:The Paraprofessional - Behavior Support will assist students in achieving their academic and personal goals, while also providing support for behavior plans and related service sessions. This role requires a strong understanding of behavior support principles and the ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and other support staff.
Key Responsibilities:- Support students in achieving their academic and personal goals, while also providing support for behavior plans and related service sessions.
- Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized behavior plans.
- Provide support for students during therapy and related service sessions, including transferring and positioning students as needed.
- Assist students with self-care tasks, such as using the restroom, basic hygiene, and feeding.
- Follow all appropriate policies and procedures relating to the care and safety of students.
- Ensure that students and their supplies are kept neat and clean throughout the day.
- Perform all related work, as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associates degree or coursework in education preferred.
- One to three years of relevant healthcare, childcare, and/or other school-based experience preferred.
- First Aid CPR AED preferred.
- At least one year of experience working in an ABA environment or in an equivalent role for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
- Ability to demonstrate positive behavioral support and to understand and effectively interpret behavior as communication.
- Formal training, including college coursework in psychology, sociology, human behavior, mental health, special education, and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred.
- Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification preferred.
