Trauma Registrar Senior

Job Summary:
The Senior Trauma Registrar will provide data entry support for the Trauma Registry and assist the Trauma Program Director and Trauma Coordinator with clerical tasks. This role is responsible for maintaining the CHRISTUS Health Care System's Trauma Registry in compliance with state regulations and providing data for research and epidemiological studies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clerical, statistical, and informational support to the Trauma Service
- Abstract charts and perform quality assurance on patient information with a diagnosis of trauma
- Maintain a database for easy retrieval of trauma statistics
Requirements:
- Complete trauma registry software training within 90 days of employment
- Achieve AIS coding certification within 12 months of employment
- Complete a trauma registrar course or equivalent within 12 months of hire
- Participate in continuing education as per the American College of Surgeon's criteria
- Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS) certification is preferred
- Complete an ICD-10 course in trauma within the first year of hire and every 5 years thereafter
- Accrue 24 hours of trauma-related continuing education within the 3-year designation/verification period
