Job Summary

The Clinical Respiratory Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care at Northwestern Medicine. This position reflects the organization's mission, vision, and values, adhering to the Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Respiratory Manager to oversee administrative functions and assume responsibilities as delegated or in the manager's absence.
  • Act as a mentor, facilitator, coach, and clinical/supervisory resource to support the team's growth and development.
  • Evaluate and oversee clinical practices within the department to maintain patient care excellence and compliance.

Requirements

  • Emergency department experience is essential.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in an acute care hospital setting, including adult, pediatric, and neonatal critical care, and relief supervisory experience.
  • Leadership skills, including communication, organizational skills, time management, coping skills, motivation, problem-solving, autonomy, and supporting the team.
  • Two years or more experience as a NICU Level III transport therapist.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of respiratory therapy.
  • Illinois State License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP).
  • NBRC RRT Certifications/Licensure: ACLS within 6 months of hire, BLS, NRP, PALS, LIC RCP, REG RRT.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Regulatory, leadership, and/or teaching experience.
  • Completion of an asthma education course.
  • Training in lab quality standards and blood gas instrument troubleshooting.
