About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Designer to join our team at Builders FirstSource. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for coordinating the design and completion of layouts of residential roof and floor systems for pricing and manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently design and develop residential roof and floor systems, ensuring compliance with technical requirements and customer goals.
  • Interact with customers to evaluate their needs and provide expert advice and recommendations.
  • Develop and complete design details from customer concept drawings.
  • Use independent judgment and discretion to select design materials and produce materials lists.
  • Research and analyze construction design documents, construction management, and construction contracts.
  • Present, coordinate, sell, and follow-up on all new jobs.
  • Proactively discuss changes and corrections with engineers, architects, and contractors.
  • Ensure conformance to all relevant building requirements and municipality building codes.
  • Develop solutions to challenges presented by customers within budget, schedule, and project constraints.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 4+ years of drafting experience in a construction or building materials-related industry.
  • Proficient technical writing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints in an architectural-related industry.
  • Tech-savvy with Microsoft Office products, AUTO CAD, and other design programs.
