Job Title: Registered Pharmacy Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Texas Children's Hospital. As a Registered Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient preparation and dispensing of medications to our patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Process prescriptions and medication orders, preparing medications for dispensing
  • Ensure proper distribution and delivery of pharmaceutical and supply shipments
  • Verify doses are delivered within established departmental time-frame standards
  • Complete and document daily and monthly activity checklists, including expired drug checking, cleaning assignments, and ordering supplies and forms
  • Check all available means of communication, including email and mailboxes, every shift
  • Complete daily filing, including medication orders and stop orders
  • Work with Materials and Logistics to maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies
  • Assist in implementing new formulations for manufactured products, new repackaged products, or any product deletions, including updating the Master Formulation Book and maintaining the M&R computer program
  • Perform weekly inspections of pharmacy areas to ensure adequate supply of drug accountability logs and study drugs
Qualifications:
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPHT-TX) from the State Board of Pharmacy required
  • Pharmacy Intern (PHAR INT) certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board preferred
  • 2 years of pharmacy technician experience preferred
  • 40 hours of training in compounding sterile products accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education or the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists preferred
