Position Overview:

The Underwriting Manager will oversee the underwriting operations within our agricultural finance division. This role is crucial in ensuring the integrity and quality of loan evaluations and approvals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the overall underwriting processes and functions within the division.
  • Supervise the assessment and evaluation of loan applications submitted by the department.
  • Ensure the quality of loans approved through rigorous underwriting standards.
  • Collaborate with the closing department to confirm that all underwriting conditions are satisfied prior to finalizing loans.
  • Stay updated on current underwriting practices and ensure that the underwriting team is informed of any changes.
  • Address compliance issues within the underwriting division to maintain regulatory standards.
  • Oversee hiring, transfers, terminations, and performance evaluations of team members.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field is required, along with 6+ years of experience in credit practices, lending, and underwriting.
  • Management experience is preferred; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Advanced knowledge of credit practices, lending regulations, and underwriting concepts is essential.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
  • Expertise in credit scoring, financial analysis, and loan evaluation metrics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and customer relations skills are necessary.
  • Familiarity with relevant software applications is required.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative underwriting principles and practices.
