Job Summary

Foster Farms is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Feed Mill Operations Specialist. This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our receiving and grinding systems, as well as maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receiving and Processing: Unload rail cars, hopper bottom, and walking floor trailers, and ensure that the product is properly stored in designated holding bins. Take samples for quality assurance and conduct inventories to meet production needs.
  • System Operations: Understand and operate the transfer system and whole corn grinding systems, performing routine inspections to ensure proper functioning and optimal performance. Detect and correct equipment failures and plugs quickly to minimize downtime.
  • Housekeeping and Safety: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to OSHA requirements to minimize dust levels. Keep accurate receiving records and coordinate with the Operations Supervisor to release empty rail cars to the railroad.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by management, including but not limited to, maintaining equipment, performing maintenance tasks, and assisting with quality control initiatives.
Requirements
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Must be able to work flexible, rotating hours/shifts, including weekends, with minimal supervision.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Possess good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to read and understand written instructions.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of computers is desirable, and the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations is required.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to move up to 100 pounds.
