Experienced Veterinary Technician / Assistant

At The Animal Hospital, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care to our patients and their owners. We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician / Assistant to join our team.

About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high level of technical skill and attention to detail. As a Veterinary Technician / Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting our veterinarians with medical procedures, taking patient histories, and maintaining accurate medical records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians with medical procedures, including surgeries and exams
  • Take patient histories and vital signs
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records
  • Perform departmental housekeeping duties
  • Admit and discharge patients
  • Take, process, and log prescription refills
  • Monitor hospital patients and log vital signs
  • Administer medications to patients as needed
  • Place catheters and perform blood draws
  • Restraining and assisting the doctor during exams, treatments, and anesthesia procedures
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a high school diploma or equivalent, and one to two years of related experience and/or training. Licensed Veterinary Technicians in Maine are preferred, but not required. We are open to training the right candidate.
