Job Title: Speech-Language Pathologist

Alta Vista Healthcare & Wellness Center is seeking a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Speech-Language Pathologist to provide direct patient care and support activities that build and maintain outstanding outcomes in our therapy department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement treatment programs to maximize speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing abilities in patients with medically based speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Evaluate and treat patients, communicate with families, physicians, and other interdisciplinary team members, and document services in medical records.
  • Contribute to professional development of self and others, enhance interdisciplinary team through professional skills and knowledge, and demonstrate safe working practices.
  • Provide patient treatments that meet patient needs, utilize current treatment knowledge in accordance with facility clinical procedures, and communicate effectively with supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.
  • Supervise Clinical Fellow and other SLPs in direct patient care and patient-related activities, write accurate, complete, and clear documentation in accordance with regulatory, licensing, payer, and accrediting requirements, and manage Medicare Medical Review and Denials process in conjunction with Director of Rehabilitation, the facility team, and therapy staff.
  • Consistently demonstrate facility's interdisciplinary approach to patient care, integrate findings of other members of the interdisciplinary team in treatment assessment and recommendations, and prepare for and provide meaningful contributions to rehab team conferences, patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, family conferences, and caregiver training sessions.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited SLP program.
  • 2-3 years experience in a skilled nursing facility rehab environment or equivalent preferred. Rehab experience required.
  • Knowledge in Speech-Language Pathology evaluation and treatment, ability to supervise and direct assistants and aides, knowledge of medical terminology, ability to work with all types and levels of staff and patients, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Current CPR certification, if required, and California Speech-Language Pathology license or license candidate under state's regulations.
Working Conditions:

The Speech-Language Pathologist will spend approximately 60-80% of time stooping, and reaching while working with therapy patients, and must be able to perform CPR, if required.

The Speech-Language Pathologist will spend approximately 5-10% of time sitting at desk or terminal entering data.
