Job Summary

The Dr. Julia N. Visor Academic Center at Illinois State University is a division of University College that provides academic support services to students. As a Tutor - FCS 102, you will play a crucial role in helping students achieve their academic goals by providing small-group tutoring on a weekly basis for lower-level courses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored tutoring services to students in FCS 102, helping them understand and apply course material.
  • Work collaboratively with graduate assistant supervisors and the Coordinator of Academic Support Services to develop and implement tutoring programs.
  • Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and supervisors to ensure seamless delivery of services.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in tutoring and academic support.

Requirements

  • Hold a minimum overall GPA of 2.80.
  • Have a grade of A or high B in the course(s) in which you are applying to tutor.
  • Be friendly, desire to be helpful, and possess excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Be proficient in the area in which you desire to tutor and able to convey knowledge clearly via spoken and written word.
  • Possess a 3.00 GPA or higher.
  • Have additional courses in the subject area applied for.

Work Environment

May require some nights and weekends. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
