Electrical Engineer for Renewable Energy Systems

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at Westwood Professional Services, Inc. as a key member of our renewables team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing electrical collection systems for on-shore wind farms.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medium voltage power distribution engineering and be proficient in the use of software such as Cymcap and Digsilent Power Factory. They will also have excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical collection systems for on-shore wind farms
  • Apply NESC, NEC, IEEE and other applicable codes and standards
  • Lead a design team and work closely with internal and external stakeholders
  • Perform calculations and analysis for underground cable thermal analysis, electrical loss analysis, short circuit analysis, and electrical grounding for safety

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years related work experience in medium voltage collection system design for renewable energy systems
  • Strong proficiency in the use of Cymcap software for underground thermal analysis of electrical conductors
  • Strong proficiency in an electrical power system analysis tool such as Digsilent Power Factory, ETAP or similar
  • Basic familiarity with software for performing electric grounding analysis for safety
