Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setup and Adjust Blow Molds: Perform and adjust complete mold setup for any IBM machine to ensure optimal production.
  • Assist with 1st Article Setups: Assist with 1st article setups, including machine and conveyor operations, to ensure smooth production.
  • Mold Shop Support: Assist in the mold shop with mold PMs and cleaning to maintain equipment and ensure quality production.
  • Conveying and Flaming Systems: Set up bottles for conveying and flaming systems on any IBM machine to ensure efficient production.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Maintain equipment by coordinating maintenance and following manufacturers' instructions and established procedures to ensure optimal production.
  • SPC Hook Ups: Ensure proper setup and operation of SPC hook ups on machines to ensure quality production.
  • Team Collaboration: Contribute to team efforts to ensure smooth production and high-quality results.
  • PM Work: Perform PM work on molds in machines to increase efficiency and reduce blocked cavities.
  • Adherence to Safety Policies: Support and adhere to all BERRY safety policies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Adherence to GMPs: Follow and support all BERRY GMPs to ensure quality production.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the team.

Requirements:

Education and/or Equivalent Experience:

  • General Mechanical Ability: General mechanical ability or equivalent on-the-job training.
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Work Schedule: Work twelve (12) hours per day with three 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute lunch, ability to work overtime on short notice.
  • Work Environment: Work safely in the vicinity of open flames, hot plastic, oil, and metal (approximately 200°F). Possible exposure to dust and odors from substances like oil, molten plastics, degreasers, and cleaning solvents.
  • Noise Level: Work in a noise level usually 90dB and above requiring ear protection.
  • Sharp Edges and Moving Components: Work around sharp edges of machinery and moving machine components.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Wear personal protective equipment: rubber-soled/steel-toed shoes, earplugs, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, and forearm sleeves.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally lift 1050 lbs. and carry approximately 50 lbs. for 100 ft twice a day, push/pull a 1000 lb. mold into position on a machine table.
  • Standing: Stand on average 10 hours a day.
  • Visual Defects and Color Recognition: Detect visual defects in bottles and distinguish shades in color.
  • Hearing and Sound Recognition: Hear and recognize various sounds such as emergency machine shutdown alarms.
  • Bending and Twisting: Bend and twist at a 90-degree angle about 50% of the day.
  • Reading and Understanding: Read and understand all work procedures and instructions.
