Job Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough initial and ongoing patient assessments, creating a plan of care and implementing treatment to evaluate effectiveness.
- Administer medications safely and consistently with state practice and Bon Secours Mercy Health policies and procedures.
- Serve as a point of contact for patient care coordination throughout hospital departments.
- Advocate for patient safety by participating in quality improvement initiatives and collaborating with spiritual care, palliative, and ethics teams as needed.
- Orient, facilitate learning experiences, and provide education to nursing staff and others based on quality improvement indicators, outcomes, and implementation.
- Possess clinical knowledge, skills, and competency to provide evidence-based patient care in accordance with current standards of practice, policy, and procedure, and BSMH mission.
- Develop, implement, and prioritize a plan of care safely and efficiently, applying the nursing process in patient care delivery.
- Assess patient physical and emotional responses to treatment to evaluate effectiveness and revise the plan of care accordingly.
- Collaborate with others in the delivery of coordinated patient care, applying cultural diversity and inclusion principles when caring for patients and their support resources.
Requirements
- Current RN license in the state of employment or covered by compact.
- BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from an approved source prior to direct patient care).
- ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (required within 6 months of hire).
- 1 year of RN experience (required).
- 6 months of RN experience in a Med/Surg, Critical Care, Stepdown, or Emergency Department Unit (preferred).
Working Conditions
May be exposed to high stress and fluctuating workloads. May be required to use physical restraints. May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights. May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids. May be exposed to human blood and other potentially infectious materials. May have periods of constant interruptions.
